Clevid is built around **strict data minimization**: recording happens **only** while an assessment timer is actively running, and every session belongs exclusively to the hiring organization that invited the candidate.

Clevid never sells candidate data, never uses candidate code or video recordings to train AI models, and never builds cross-company profiles of job applicants.

## Data lifecycle & retention

## What is collected vs. never collected

| Category | Collected During Active Exam | Never Collected |

| **Video & Audio** | Webcam video, microphone audio, and exam screen from **Start Assessment** until **Submit** | Any camera, mic, or screen activity before preflight or after submission |
| **Workspace Signals** | Exam window focus changes, connected display count, and floating overlay alerts | Personal files, browser history, keystrokes outside the exam window, or private messages |
| **Assessment Work** | Question answers, code submissions, and test-case results | Local projects, saved passwords, or files on the candidate's computer |

## Access logs & organization isolation

- **Encrypted Storage**: All assessment answers and video clips are encrypted in transit and at rest, isolated to the inviting company's workspace.
- **Reviewer Audit Trail**: Every time a recruiter or hiring manager views a candidate's recording, an audit log entry records who viewed the session and when.

## Default retention schedules

Hiring organizations can customize automatic deletion windows in **Settings → Organization** (`/dashboard/settings`):

| **Screen & Webcam Recordings** | `90 days` after submission | `30 days` – `365 days` (or immediate deletion after hiring decision) |
| **Code Submissions & Scorecards** | `365 days` | `90 days` – `730 days` |
| **Candidate Session Receipt** | Retained with candidate audit record | Candidate may request deletion via the hiring organization |
